Richard Geisler

Richard Geisler is a 2002 graduate of Logansport High School. He received his BS (2007) and MAE (2019) degrees from Ball State University. His concentration areas include a Major in Instrumental and General Music Education, Minor in Vocal Performance, and Master’s in Educational Leadership and Supervision. While at Ball State, he studied saxophone with George Wolfe, voice with Yoko Shimazaki-Kilburn, and jazz piano with Frank Puzzullo.

Mr. Geisler is currently the Director of Bands and Performing Arts Department Chair at Anderson High School. His responsibilities include teaching and overseeing the concert band, jazz band, marching band, winter guard, bagpipe, and guitar programs. He organizes two major events in the year including the Tartan Tournament of Bands and Winter Guard Festival of Colors competition.

Under his leadership, the concert and jazz ensembles at Anderson High School have regularly earn gold ratings at ISSMA Organizational Festival. The Marching Highlanders annually place in the top 5 at State Fair Band Day having earned SFBD Champion in 2019 and Runner-Up in 2018 and 2024.

Mr. Geisler has served as the IMEA Festivals Chair, Circle the State with Song Area Coordinator, CITSA secretary, and CITSA Past-President. He is a member of NAfME, IBA, and IJEA.

cordell zehr

Cordell Zehr is a graduate of Concord High School. He received his degree from Butler University in 2018 – majoring in Instrumental and General music education. At Butler, he studied tuba with Melissa Williams and Tony Kniffen, jazz with Matt Pivec, and conducting with Michael Colburn. He served as the Music Director of the Alpha Sigma chapter of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, taking the fraternity to various places around the Indianapolis community to perform.

 

Mr. Zehr is currently the Assistant Director of Bands at Anderson High School. He student taught at Decatur Central High School (under the supervision of Tim Cox) and Riverside Junior High (under the supervision of Matt Harrod). Mr. Zehr established a low brass studio at Decatur Central, taking many students to ISSMA District Solo and Ensemble and ISSMA State Solo and Ensemble. He is an active member of NAfME and IMEA, participating in professional development opportunities throughout the year.
